Is DeVry accredited?

Did DeVry lose its accreditation?

No. DeVry University has never lost its accreditation. DeVry University and its Keller Graduate School of Management have been continuously accredited and in good standing since 1981 with the Higher Learning Commission, an accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Accreditation affirms that DeVry meets established standards of academic quality and institutional integrity.

Is DeVry a for-profit university?

Yes. DeVry University is a for-profit, accredited institution owned and operated by a private organization.1 For-profit refers to our federal tax classification, meaning DeVry is privately owned and pays taxes, in contrast to private and public not-for-profit universities. DeVry focuses on providing accessible, career-relevant education that helps students develop skills valued in today’s workforce.

Is DeVry legitimate and a good school?

Yes. DeVry University is a legitimate, accredited institution that has been educating students since 1931. Is DeVry a scam?

No. DeVry University is a legitimate, accredited institution that has been serving students since 1931.1 Over the past 90+ years, we have awarded more than 300,000 degrees to undergraduate and graduate students.

We participate in the federal Title IV student financial aid program, and DeVry is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an institutional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.1 Our Keller Graduate School of Management is also included in this accreditation.

Is DeVry a quality education provider?

Yes. DeVry University is an accredited institution, which means our programs, faculty, and student services meet standards of academic quality and integrity independently established by our accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).1

Is DeVry under investigation?

No. DeVry University is not under investigation. A past Federal Trade Commission (FTC) inquiry into advertising claims was resolved in 2016 through a settlement agreement without admission of wrongdoing. DeVry works closely with regulators to maintain transparency and compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.

What did DeVry get sued for?

In 2016, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit alleging certain advertising claims DeVry made between 2008–2015 were misleading. The case was resolved through a settlement addressing all FTC claims and DeVry did not admit wrongdoing. DeVry has robust compliance and verification processes to ensure our advertising is accurate and transparent.

How did DeVry University mislead students?

In 2016, the Federal Trade Commission alleged that advertisements published by DeVry University between 2008 and 2015 contained statements about graduate employment outcomes that it considered misleading. DeVry maintains it did not mislead students, and the matter was resolved through a settlement without admission of wrongdoing. DeVry has robust internal review, compliance, and data-verification procedures in place to ensure accuracy and transparency.

Did DeVry go out of business?

No. DeVry University has operated and enrolled students continuously since its founding in 1931. Under new ownership as of 2018, we offer undergraduate and graduate programs in business, technology, and healthcare and focus on delivering an accredited education that helps students prepare for tomorrow’s careers.1

Is DeVry expensive?

DeVry University is committed to making education accessible and affordable. Our tuition varies by program and individual circumstances, but many students lower their total costs through qualifying transfer credits, scholarships, grants, tuition savings, and/or employer reimbursement.3

Is DeVry still a technical school?

No. While DeVry was founded in 1931 as a technical training school, today we are an accredited university offering associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees along with undergraduate and graduate certificates in programs across business, technology, and healthcare.1

Is DeVry a medical or nursing school?

No. DeVry does not offer clinical programs such as nursing. Instead, we offer business-focused healthcare programs in fields like healthcare administration, health information technology, and medical billing and coding – preparing students for essential roles in healthcare management and support.

Does DeVry hard sell their programs?

We know life is busy, and we want to help you earn your degree or certificate when it works best for you. Our advisors work with you to identify the right program and schedule to fit your life and your goals. With 8-week class sessions offered year-round, you can start your journey when you’re ready. 

DeVry will never contact you against your wishes, and you may choose to opt out of future communications at any time.

Does DeVry call, email, and text too much?

We contact our current, prospective, and former students regularly to provide support, updates, and reminders that help you stay on track toward your goals. We ensure that we follow all TCPA and CAN-SPAM laws. If you feel you are being contacted too frequently, you may adjust your preferences or opt out of DeVry communications at any time.

Does DeVry support their students?

Yes. Student support is so central to our mission, we even have a name for it. We call it DeVry Care
