How the Career Empowerment Grant works

The model is simple and designed to integrate seamlessly with your existing tuition benefits program.

Step 1: Employee gains approval for enrollment with use of tuition benefits 
Your employees learn about the available opportunity and follow company process to gain approval for participation.

Step 2: Employer tuition benefits are applied
Your standard annual tuition benefit is applied first.

Step 3: The Career Empowerment Grant covers remaining tuition
The grant covers most or all of the remaining eligible tuition costs.*

Step 4: Employee completes education program, with little or no out-of-pocket costs
In many cases, employees can complete their program with minimal or zero loan dependency, applying learned skills on an ongoing basis.

How is the Career Empowerment Grant calculated?

The Career Empowerment Grant* is designed to cover the remaining tuition after employer tuition benefits are deducted. Reference the example equation above.

Who is eligible for the Grant?

Eligible employees include new, current and readmit students who meet your company’s employment requirements and DeVry or Keller admission standards. The grant is not available to employee dependents.

Which programs are covered?

All DeVry and Keller undergraduate and graduate programs qualify for the grant. Annual credit hours depend on program cost and company tuition assistance limits.

Can we focus on specific programs?

Yes. We can align eligible programs to your organization’s priority roles and workforce development goals, creating structured upskilling pathways, all with a focus on using existing resources.

What if the employee exceeds the tuition reimbursement amount?

Employees can work proactively with their student support advisors to adjust their course load if they wish to stay within their annual limit. If students wish to take more credit hours than their employer tuition benefits annual cap allows, they will be responsible for tuition charges that are not covered.

What if an employee fails or withdraws?

Employees who don’t pass or withdraw will be responsible for any balance on their student account. They can remain eligible for the grant program as long as their balance is paid prior to the start of the subsequent session of classes.

When is tuition due?

DeVry offers deferred billing, so employees can provide proof of grades for reimbursement and have additional time to pay their tuition and fees.
