Horne brings decades of experience across education, technology and workforce sectors

LISLE, Ill. Sept 9, 2025 –  DeVry University today announced the appointment of Jason B. Horne as its new Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. Horne brings a proven track record of leadership, innovation and growth across education, technology and workforce sectors.

In his role, Horne will spearhead DeVry's growth efforts by expanding capabilities through strategically aligned acquisitions and oversee transformative efforts that will further position the university at the forefront of the rapidly shifting skills development ecosystem needed to shape tomorrow's workforce. He will report directly to president and CEO, Elise Awwad, and will serve as a key member of DeVry’s executive leadership team.

I am delighted to welcome Jason to DeVry University at such an important time,” said Elise Awwad, president and CEO of DeVry University. “Workforce needs, technological disruptions driven by AI and shifting learner expectations are converging in ways that challenge every institution of higher learning. We see this as a moment of tremendous opportunity, and of real need for educational transformation. DeVry has long been at the center of innovation in higher education, and Jason’s deep experience and strategic expertise gives him a clear view of how to successfully build on that legacy.”

Most recently, Jason B. Horne served as co-president of GSV Summit LLC, where he helped lead the organization behind the ASU+GSV Summit, the preeminent global gathering of over 7,000 leaders and innovators shaping the future of learning and work. Through this work, Horne cultivated conversations between educators, innovators and workforce leaders, holding a front row seat to the most innovative and impactful breakthrough collaborations in education today.

He previously held leadership roles at GSV Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm investing in technology-driven education and workforce skills companies. Horne played a central role in evaluating and executing investments in numerous companies, supporting portfolio companies’ go-to-market and business development strategy, as well as leading investor relations and fundraising for the firm.

Earlier in his career, Horne held senior positions at GSV Advisors, where he advised high-growth education and workforce technology companies on mergers and acquisitions, capital strategy and market expansion, and at TES Global, where he helped lead corporate development and drove a global organic and inorganic growth strategy.

“It’s a tremendous honor to join DeVry University as its new Chief of Strategy and Transformation Officer,” said Jason Horne. “Throughout my career, I’ve worked at the intersection of education, workforce and scaled innovation. I look forward to bringing that experience to an institution with a long history of innovation and a clear commitment to transforming education in ways that prepare learners for long-term success.”
