Abhay Ghiara, a professor in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at DeVry University's Fremont campus and a former Fulbright Scholar, was recently selected to join the Fulbright Commission's Peer Review Committee in New Delhi, India, one of only 49 commissions worldwide.
In this role, Ghiara will work alongside fellow members to review Fulbright Grant applications, helping to select recipients of 8,000 grants awarded per year to scholars, teachers, students, artists, professionals and scientists to carry out proposed projects, often involving immersion in cultural exchange to share and educate others.
"I am honored to be a part of a prestigious program with a global impact," said Ghiara. "After a rewarding experience as a Fulbright Scholar, I look forward to assisting in the peer review process. I hope my work will serve as an example to my students and colleagues at DeVry University and inspire them to take an active role in their ongoing academic pursuits."
