Shantanu Bose, Ph.D., is the provost and chief academic officer for DeVry University. He is responsible for driving the academic vision and providing leadership for achieving the highest academic quality. He oversees all academic affairs, including the areas of curriculum and instruction, faculty and academic operations, accreditation and academic policies, academic programs, course and instructional design, registrar services, and other educational processes.
Bose’s leadership encompasses the University’s five colleges, which together deliver programs and courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, including undergraduate certificates, and associate and bachelor’s degrees, as well graduate certificates and master’s degree programs offered through DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management. He also chairs the University’s Program Enhancement Committee, and co-chairs its Persistence and Retention Committee, Academic Technology Steering Committee, and the inaugural AI Lab established in 2023.
Prior to joining DeVry, Bose held various leadership roles in education and other sectors. He was group vice president at School Specialty, Inc., a K-12 education products and services company. At American Greetings, Bose led the strategic product sourcing and development as the Asia director of its Far East division in Hong Kong. Bose also worked at McKinsey & Company, consulting on strategic growth and operational improvement projects in a variety of industries in the U.S. and overseas.
Bose is a member of the Higher Learning Commission’s Peer Corps (HLC, www.hlccommission.org), which includes select faculty and administrators from institutions accredited by HLC. The Peer Corps is responsible for assuring an educational institution is complying with accreditation criteria, as well as for helping an institution advance within the context of its own mission.
Bose received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology. While earning his master’s degree in chemical engineering and a doctorate in supply chain management from Purdue University, he was a recipient of the university’s Magoon Award for Excellence in Teaching.
